Our club

Rotary club Kakinada was established in 1943. The illustrious Maharajah of Pithapuram S V R K Mahipathi Surya Rao Bahaddur was the Charter President and Rtn. P. Bapoo Rao was the secretary. The club was sponsered by Rotary club Visakhapatnam. Rtn. George Gordon Hastings, Rtn. P. Bapoo Rao, Rtn. Sripada Ramayya, as successive Presidents have put the club on its feet. Rotary Club became the integral part of the community life at Kakinada.

Rtn D . Gopala Rao made the club transcend its territorial limits. Community service was rendered in places far and near and people turned to Rotary for assistance for any good cause. Scholarships to High School Students were initiated and continued then onwards. He was instrumental in securing donation of Rs. 10,000/- to undertake Godavari Flood Relief Work.

Rtn Dr. I . Joga Rao took very active part in providing large scale relief work to the victims of the devastating Godavari Flood that occurred in August, 1953 by providing medical aid, supplying food and clothing and rehabilitation. Rtn. B. Sanyasi Rao, Secretary provided him able support in the relief operations. The club came to be known widely in the revenue district. Rotary Club of Rajahmundry was sponsored.

Rtn. T.D. Prasad Rao dedicated himself hear and soul to Rotary and the club. Rural Health Clinic at Valasapakala was established under his leadership. The club successfully celebrated Golden Jubilee year of the Rotary during his leadership. The club provided weekly entertainment to patients of the Govt. General Hospital, Kakinada. Rtn. C.N. Srinivasa Rao as Community Service Chairman took up and executed the novel project.

Rtn. B. Sanyasi Rao during his year of Presidentship undertook rural development work. The club adopted Valasapakala as Rotary Village. Two old wells were renovated and a library was opened in the Village.

Rtn. Dr. I. Jofa Rao was the President for the second time in the year 1956-57. Rural Health Clinic was started at Sarpavaram. Literary activities were fostered to a great extent during that year.

Rtn. Dr. K. Chandra Rao, Popular D.M.O took keen interest in establishing close contacts with sister clubs. Rotary Club, Amalapuram was sponsored during his year of office. a colorful ‘into their shoes’ programme was conducted.

Rtn. Dr, K Venkatachalam, an unassuming but ardent Rotarian opened New Channels of service. Free medical checkup of students for selected schools was under taken.

Rtn. A.L. Narasimha Murty held office as President during 1959-60. The club took active interest in conducting elocution contests for college students. During this year, industrial dispute which led to strike was amicably settled by the imitative of Rtn. B Sanyasi Rao.

In the year 1960-61 Rtn. C. Vivekananda Murty, Retd. Chairman of Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission assumed office as President. Rotary Foundation Scholars from abroad were hosted by the club. The club along with the Women’s Education society collected donations and sponsored Women’s College which is presently named as A.S. Government College for Women.

Rtn. M.S. Naicker took office in 1961-62. Through his good offices donation of Rs.10,000/- was obtained from M.S.N. Charities for the Women’s College sponsored by the club.

In the year 1962-63, Dr. P.V.N Raju brought in fresh Zeal and Vigour to the office okf President. The administration of the club was streamlined and there was all round fillip to the activities of the club in all the four avenues of service. Orthopedic Rehabilitation apparatus was presented to the Govt. General Hospital as Lahary Project. Art competition open to all students was also conducted.

Rtn. Dr. K Ramachandra Rao a simple and dedicated Rotarian succeeded Dr. Raju Bus Shelter at Govt. General Hospital was constructed with the aid of M/s. S.N. Bros. Relief to Victims of floods and fire was rendered.

Rtn. K.S. Raju was the president during 1964-65, Diamond Jubilee of Rotary International was celebrated on a grand scale. Bus Shelter donated by Rtn. D.V. Raghavendra Rao was inaugurated. Paul Harris Children’s Library was provided in the local school. It was inaugurated by Dr. Lakkaraju Subba Rao.

Rtn. P.H.N.B. Sarma, Principal, Govt. Polytechnic assumed office in the year 1965-66. There was active spread of Rotary information amongst members. The club attained 100% Rotary Foundation plateau.

Rtn. P.V.N. Raju was re-elected as the President during 1966-67. He strengthened the club with new additions.

Rtn P. Subbarayudu as leader took the club during 1967-68 to a position of strength. The club celebrated its Silver Jubilee. Dance, Drama and Music festival with eminent artists like Sri Relangi, Sri Ghantasala and others was conducted successfully. Kakinada Inner-Wheel club was formed. School based Inter-act Club was also formed in M.S.N.C.M.P High School, Jagannaickpur- Kakinada. Repaka borhters, Rtns.Narasimha Murty and Subba Rao donated for bus shelter in the memory of their father late Rtn. Repaka Satyanarayana Murty.

Rtn. Pothula Subba Rao was the President during 1968-69. Sound proof ceiling in Suryakala Mandir as Silver Jubilee Project was completed, He laid the foundation stone for Sri Mootha Satya Prsannam Rotary Service Center in the site donated by Rtn. Mootha Manikyam in the memory of his father Sri Mootha Satya Prasannam and the front hall was partly constructed. This service center took the club to the privileged category of clubs that owned a service center of its own.

Rtn. M. Narasimham assumed office in the year 1969-70. Remaining front hall of Rotary Service Centre was completed. Relief was provided to the victims of cyclone. Radios set with external loud speaker were presented to Children’s ward of Govt. General Hospital Kakinada with the donation of Rtn. Chittory Swamy. Play equipment was provided in Gandhi Centenary Children’s Park attached to the said Hospital. 

In the year 1970-71, younger Repaka Rtn. R. Subba Rao was the President of the Club. Further construction was made to the Rotary Service Centre. The club along with the Government took up low Cost Housing Project in Sambamurthy Nagar. Intercity General Forum was held in 1971 with success. Rs 500/- was donated by Repaka to institute rolling shield to be awarded to the best club in vocational service in memory of his father.

Rtn. C. Seetharamaiah was the President in 1971-72. Phase II construction of the service centre was completed during his period. Medicines worth Rs, 22,500/- were gifted to our club by Santa Barbara Rotary Club under WCS Programme. For the first time District Assembly was successfully hosted by the club.

Rtn. A. Suryanarayana Presiding during 1972-73, got the construction of the meeting hall of the service centre completed.

Rtn. C. N. Srinivasa Rao who held office as President in 1973-74 was installed in the new meeting hall of Service Centre. He worked with the dedication and zeal for the completion of the edifice of the Service Centre. Repaka brothers contributed for the said construction. The hall was aptly named after Rtn. Repaka Satyanarayan Murty. Providing refreshments by each Rotarian every week for the fellowship was hit upon by the President and the same is successfully followed every year. 

Rtn. Mootha Manikyam succeeded Rtn. C. N. Srinivasa Rao. art through yound hands completion taken up as District Project was successfully conducted by the club. In this year Rtn. Dr. P.S. Murty from our club successfully led GSE team that went to R.I.Dist 726. U.S.A.

During 1975-76 elder Repaka, Rtn. Repaka Narasimha Murty took office as President. Mini Music Festival for two days was conducted a fund raising programme. Dr. Balamurali and Sri Chittibabu participated in the said function. Weekly medical clinic was effectively run. Mr. M.F. Alam, Income Tax Officer Sponsored by our club was selected as GSE team member. Districts sports meet was conducted with success.

Rtn. Dr. P.S. Murty was the President in 1976-77, Rotary Club. Peddapuram was sponsored during that year. ‘ROTANADA’, CLUB BULLETIN WAS REVIVED. So also the Rotaract club.

Rtn. Dr. C.S Ratna Raju assumed office as President during 1977-78. Blood donations by Rotarians were launched in this year.Rotary Eye Bank in the Govt. General Hospital Kakinada was inaugurated. It is due to untiring efforts and crusading zeal of Rtn. Kosuri Virraju. Ramachandrapuram Rotary Club was sponsored during this year. Free weekly medical clinic by the club manned by Dr. K. Ramakrishna Chowdary rendered yeomen service.

Rtn. P. Bangra Raju took over the Presidentship during 1978-79. The year began with a good omen by the club bagging roling shield for highest percentage of attendance at the District Assembly held at Warrangal. Pleasant way of greeting Rotarians ont heir birth days by personally visiting the at their residence and offering felicitations, was taken up with good results. Sound System of its own was acquired by the club with interest fee loan provided by Rtn. V.V. ratna Rao. The club bulletin ‘Rotanada’  attained recognition in rotary circles. The club created a histore by enrollin a non-Rotarian Sri Badam Suryanaryana Murty as the First Paul Harris Fellow of the club. The year rolled by with a grand finale by the club hosting District Assembly for the second time with highest number of delegated attending.

Rtn. K. Ramakrishna Chowdary assumed office as President during 1979-80. It was the 75th Anniversary year of Rotary International. In a befitting way to commemorate the said occasion, the club took up Eye Camp at Velangi village. Rtn. K.V.S Anjaneya Murty the then dynamic secretary planned and executed the project with thumping success. The Velangi Rythu Sangham provided their unstinted co-operation in providing food etc., to the patients as well as the personnel who manned hte camp. Rotary Club Chigwell U.K. sponsored the said project. Dr. John.K. Verghese did yeomen service providing free dental check up at the camp. ROTARACT club was revived. Rotary sewing Center was started in the club premises. The club was fortunate enough in presenting the specially designed and gold plated 75th R.I. Logo to R.I. President James. L.Bomar Jr. During his visit to Visakhapatnam. Weekly celebrations as per the guidelines of R.I were conducted to commemorate the 75th R.I Anniversary. All purpose ceiling was provided to Rotary service centre adding colour to it. The club history and directory was brought up and released for circulation. Rtn. K.V. S. Anjaneya Murthy sponsored the same. The club was very active under all the avenues of service.

Rtn. D. Sesha Appa Rao took office of President in the year 1980-81. Immunnisation Clinic was conducted in the Super Bazar premises with funding from Rtn. Yashpal Chadda. RYLA camp was conducted by the club for the first time, with excellent participation. English grammar book complied by Sri P.V. Ramana Rao was published by the club with financial assistance provided by M/s. Subbaraya Solvent Oil Extractions Limited. Sarpavaram. This very useful book was given to all the educational institutions free of cost. Likewise every Rotary club in the R.I. District was given ten copies. Two Cement water tanks were donated by the President to the local Deaf and Dumb School during observation of International Year for the Disabled. R.F. Symposium was conducted very successfully enlisting 2 Paul Harris Fellows, 6 P.H.F. Sustaining Members and 5 Memorial Contributions tremendously boosting up R.F. Plateau to $1500 Rtn. PP K.S. Raju for R.I Citation for this excellent achievement. The glorious year came to an end with the club bagging 5 District awards.

Rtn. V. Rama Subba Rao led the club during 1981-82 Distinction was achieved in all the four avenues of Service, with special accent on The Rotary Foundation. Rotary Club, Kakinda Central was sponsored and chartered during his year of office. S.M.S. Rotary service Centre was given a fresh coat of colour and was also equipped with comfortable chairs for the members and four Godrej steel chairs on the dais costing Rs 10,000/- with munificent assistance provided by Rtn. C.V.S. Chinna Rao, Managing Director of Subbaraya Solvent Oil Extraction Ltd., Sarpavaram Fund Raising Programme of the club was successfully conducted with the Kuchipudi Dance Recital given by Kum. K. Shoba Naidu and Party of Hyderabad realizing Rs. 25,000/-.

Rtn. Sama Srirama Krishna assumed office of President during the Year 1982-83. In this year, free eye camp for ten days was conducted at Tallarevu with the active co-operation of Arya Vysya Sangham. The Camp was sponsored by Rotary Clubs of Dron Field and Warsop in R.I District 124, U.K. Royal Common Wealth Society for Blind, England. Rolling shield was presented with a purse. The club conducted a joint meet of all the service organizations of Kakinada Town to felicitate Sri. P.V. Narasimha Rao the then Minister of External Affairs, Sri M.S. Sanjeev Rao the then Minister of State for Electronics and Sri S.B.P Pattabhirama Rao the Minister of State for Finance Government of India.

During 1983-84, Rtn. B. Ramachandra Raju was the President. He took active interest to successfully improve the attendance by introducing lucky dip at weekly meeting and presented VIP brief cases to all the 100 percenters of year. The Past Presidents of the club were presented with gold plated R.I Logos of the year. Free weekly medical clinic of the club was revived. Multipurpose family welfare camps were held at Kakinada and Karapa with the active association of DMHO, Kakinada. Timely help was given to the Flood Victims of Swamynager, involving Rotary Anns and Rotaractors. The President and Secretary presented T.V. Set to the Local Deaf and Dumb School. Rtn .PP D. Sesha Apparao and Rtn. V. Krishnabrahmam of Kakinada Central Rotary Club donated another T.V Set to the District Library.

Rtn. P. Rajagopal took over office of President during 1984-85. “Rajendra Vallabh Vihar” was constructed in the premises of Govt. General Hospital, Kakinada for the convenience of attendants of patients, at a cost of Rs, 35,000/- with the donation of Sri Himmatmal Jain of Kakinada. Family welfare and medical check up camps in rural and urban areas were held with the active Co- Operation of S.P.M. Dept. Of Govt. General Hospital, Kakinada with record number of 914 operations. Drinking Water project for the Upper Primary School, Indrapalem with the donation of Ann Manikyamba Sitapati Rau was installed.

Endearing ‘Little Master’ Rtn. K.V.S. Anjaneya Murty took reign of office during 1985-86. PETS meet was held and hosted by the club. The club associated itself with cycle rally undertaken from Kakinada to Hyderabad organized by N.S.S Unit of Ideal Degree College, Kakinada. District Sports Meet was held by the club with thumping success. During thei year, the club received Rs. 41,475/- as a WCS project from R.I. Dist 558, Canada.

Rtn. D.V. Krishnam Raju took office as President during 1986-84. 12 ceiling fans were donated to the Chest Diseases Ward of Govt. General Hospital, Kakinada Similarly equal number of ceiling fans were donated to A.S. Government College for Women, Jagannaickpur, Kakinada. RVC Kandarada was inaugurated during this year. Further, the very useful drinking water project under WCS Project at Kandarada Village, was installed The president along  with some of the Rotarians  and Rotaractors took pains to provide timely help to the Godavari Flood Victims at Devipatnam After a long time, the club successfully sponsored Sri V. Saethakarni, a member to the GSE team from our R.I. District to R.I. District., in USA. Greenery project was taken up in the entire stretch of Sambhamurty Street to make it an avenue of trees. Polio Plus was taken up by the club. PETS meet was hosted by the club.

Rtn. A. Sitapati Rau assumed office in the year 1987-88. Prestigious drinking water project under the WCS Project at Namavanipalem was taken up during his year of office. A record number of four non-rotarians became Paul Harris Fellows in this year and the contributions wre credited to the Polio Plus Project. PETS meet was again hosted by the club.

In 1988-89, Rtn. Boolchand Sadhanani was Presidentof the Club. He donated School Uniforms to the students of the school run by Vimukthi for the children of leprosy Patents, at a cost of Rs. 20,000/- WCS drinking water project at Namavanipalem was inaugurated and began functioning in this year. R.V.C. at Namavanipalem was inaugurated. PETS meet was hosted by the club. The Club also hosted RF Seminar in this year. Immunnisation was intensified and taken up on an extensive scale. Club sponsored Rotary club of Pithapuram and it was charted in this year. Watchman quarters was constructed at the service centre. Municipal water connection and 3 phase Electricity connection was provided to Service Centre.

During 1989-90 Rtn. V.V. Ratna Rao took office. The club presented 8 calipers to the handicapped which was taken up as a monthly project with the financial assistance provided by Rtn. PP D. Sesha Apparao. For the first time, the District Seminar on World understanding was conductedand hosted by the club, under the Chairmanship of Rtn. PP K.V.S. Anjaneya Murty. Seminar on The Rotary Foundation was also hosted by the club. Project Greenery was launched at Venkatratnapuram, Kakinada. Polio Plus Project was actively taken up.

Rtn. E. Muralimohan was the President during 1990-91. It was in this year Rtn. K.V.S. Anjaneya Murthy was selected as District Governor Nominee. The Club under the chairmanship of Rtn. PP D. Sesha Apparao achieved RF District Target fixed by the District Governor. District Awards Night was successfully conducted. The club hosted an unique meeting to felicitate Rtn. T. Ramesh U. Pain on his election as R.I Director involving all the Rotary Clubs in the revenue district of East Godavari. Health camp at kakinada was conducted. RF Seminar was hosted by the club. Polio Plus project was conducted with dedication.

Rtn. Dr. P Venkatarma Raju took office in the year 1991-92. With zeal and dedication and expertise he made the immunisation project very successful, during this year 6840 children were fully immunised. Tetanus Toxid immunisation was given to 2018 pregnant women. A Wonderful achievement, for the first time, the club sponsored Smt. Zarin Esthesham as Member to the All Ladies GSE team theat vised RI District U.S.A RF Seminar was hosted by the club.

Rtn. John. K. Varghese took office in 1992-93 in the Golden Jubilee year of the club and with it the Golden era commenced. The club conducted successfully Youth Activities during the Youth Activities Month at an unprecedented scale in association with NIIT Kakinada Rotaract and Interact clubs were sponsored by the club. A massive Youth rally involving the youth of Kakinada town was taken out as a campaign against drugs. Seminar on Career Development was also held. Seminar on Time Management was held by the club during Vocational month. Likewise, seminar on the Rotary Foundation was held during November, 1992. Dental Checkup of the school children in kakinada was taken up the club in collaboration with Colgate Palmolive. School based Interact club at Ashram Public school, Kakinada was charted this year. Aids awareness project was also actively taken up. Sri M. Pavan Kumar sponsored by the club was selected as GSE Team Member to visit an RI District USA. Meticulous preparations and arrangements made for the celebration of the Golden Jubilee of the Club and for the hosting of District Conference. Extensive propagation followed up with Field work was taken up under the Polio plus in Kakinada town and the semi urban and slum areas thereof. SMS Rotary Service Centre was made bright with fresh Coat of Colour. The attractive dais arrangements coupled with the changed sound system made the auditorium look cosy and pleasing. Club Directory was brought up with up to date information. The crowning glory of the year was the much awaited first ever District conference hosted by the club. Rotarians all over the District still recall the memories of a well planned conference with many firsts in all aspects. The united efforts under the dynamice leadership of Rtn D. Sesha Appa Rao who was the conference chairman and our own Governor Rtn K.V.S Anjaneya Murthy brought laurels even from die hard critics.

After a year of full of activities and hard work, the club sponsored the candidature of Rtn PP D. Sesha Appa Rao as DGN and what happened was a history which brought the hidden agenda of some of the then Rotary leaders. Even in spite of busy activities with regard to election the club carried on many service projects and regular meetings were held with maximum attendance. Thus the Presidentship of Rtn. R.K. Viswanadha Rao during 1993-94 was completed with dignity.

Rtn P. Narasimha Murty son of Club’s Charter Secretary Rtn. P. Bapoo Rao took the reins for the year 1994-95. The year saw the sponsoring another strong club of the present district 3020 and aptly named Kakinada Golden Jubilee commemorating the 50 years of Service of the Club to the community. The club bulletin ROTANADA won the best bulletin competition of all the Rotary Districts in India. The editor of the bulletin was Rtn. M.S.Murthy.

Rtn. L. Satyanarain who is third generation Rotarian was successful in implementing novel projects ad devoted the energies to the consolidation of the club during 1995-96

During 1996-97 under the Presidentship of Rtn. Rao Ravikiran Rao the Club hosted the much acclaimed Interact District conference with maximum participation. The club members have been in the forefront in rendering service for the devastating cyclone which hit the coastal districts of Andhra Pradesh.

Rtn. Bolla Ranga Rao who took over as President of the club for the year 1997-98 laid emphasis on Club Service and attendance. The philanthropist and unassuming member Rtn. Somu Prasad lead the year 1998-99 with the club providing educational needs to the deserving poor students. The service in providing medical relief to poor was noteworthy.

Rtn V.S.V. Ramana the young and dynamic President for the year 1999-2000 and a name synonymous with activities of New Generations aptly devoted much of the year to youth activities. During this year the members had given thought to the construction of a new building in place of existing one which required lot of renovation.

The year of 2000-2001 whivh was the first year of new millennium, under the leadership of Rtn. K. Sai Prasad as President and the long cherished dream of a New Building with Central Air-conditioning became a reality. The building now houses a Blood Bank also sponsored by Rotary Club of Kakinada Golden Jubilee. Rtn. L. Satyanarain as chairman of the building construction committee deserves the credit for making our dream a reality with the support of all the members of the three clubs.

The year 2001-2002 belongs to youth leadership with Dr D.V. Ramakrishna as President. The Club graciously came forward to host the District Conference of Rtn. Dr. K. Subba Reddy and meticulous planning coupled with traditions hospitality once again won accolades from the Rotarians of the District 3020.

Rtn. P. Kanakaraju became the leader the club for the year 2002-2003 and the achievement goes down in the history of the club one of its member, Rtn. L. Satyanarain (Tikku) was elected as District Governor for the centennial year 2004-05 with resounding majority. Incidentally, Rtn. K.V.S. Anjaneya Murthy became the Governor during Golden Jubilee year of the Club, Rtn. L. Satyanarain(Tikku) became the governor during its Diamond Jubilee Year.

Rtn. K.K. Rao the President for the year 2003-2004 can boast as the pioneer of medical relief to all types of ailments. He was mainly instrumental in bringing the “ Life Line Express” hospital on wheels to Kakinada for the first time in history of the R.I. Dist. 3020. He was ably supported by Rtn. J.J. Mannuel who almostg spent nearly one month in the train itself.

During the year 2004-05 the much awaited Centennial year District Conference with Rtn. R. Rajkamal as President was the main attention of all the members. Rtn. Governoer L. Satyanarain(Tikku) meticulously planned and executed the proceedings which were held in sprawling grounds of engineering college. It was for the first time a District conference was held in an open area with all the facilities of an auditorium.

Rtn. J.J. Mannuel became the President for the year 2005-06 and with the help of Rotary club of Plattsburgh, N.Y.USA, The Rotary Foundation and Srikiran Institute of Ophthalmology conducted maximum number of Cataract surgeries not only in the East Godavari District but also in neighboring districts, creating records of all sorts.

The year 2006-2007 can be termed as year of Rotary Foundation under the Presidentship of Badam Madhava Rao a noted philanthropist, patron of Arts and Culture educationist of this area. His services to World Understanding and Peace through the Rotary foundation was well recognized by the R.I. Dist 3020 by choosing him as outstanding Rotarian of District.

Rtn. A.V. Ranga Rao as President of the year 2007-2008 gave much importance in improving attendance and fellowship at regular meetings. It can be termed as year of consolidation and improvement. He spared number of efforts in bringing innovative projects and improving the Literacy Centre at Yetimoga. He conducted the weekly meetings with dignity and brought cohesion among all the clubs.

Rtn. K.R. Krishna who was chosen by the club as leader for the year 2008-2009 continued the rich traditions of the Club and followed his predecessors. He laid emphasis on Vocational Service by starting a tailoring school for the economically poor ladies at Yetimoga. He continued the project of providing uniforms to children at Yetimoga Literacy Centre and also orphanage being run by a Rotarian. He also continued the practice all the members about the regular meetings through SMS like his predecessor.

The soft and ever smiling Rtn. T. Satya Srinivas took over the reigns of the Club leadership for the year 2009-2010. The year was full of community service activities and support to The Rotary Foundation. The major humanitarian and community service was providing relief to Flood victims of R.I. Dist. 2160 in the worst affected Kurnool Town. The main force behind the team work was Rtn. PP. A.V.Ranga Rao who was instrumental in providing material worth more than Rs. 8,00,000/- to the affected people personally. As a part of club’s ongoing project of providing eye sight, the club has undertook more than 10 eye screening camps with the help and support of Srikiran Institute of Ophthalmology in rural areas of Kakinada. The club provided much needed help to Green Field School for the Blind and also provided Sewing machines to poor beneficiaries. The club continued to provide one bag of Rice to local home for the Aged “ASHRAM SRAVANA” The high light of the year was contributing of money to The Rotary Foundation by Rtn. PP. Badam Madhava Rao who achieved the rare distinction of highest contributor in the District. TRF has recognized him by awarding Certificate of Meritorious Service a rare gesture in deed. Our member Rtn. PDG. L. Satyanarain (Tikku) had represented R.I. Dist. 3020 in COL held at chicago, USA in April 2010.

The torch bearer o this year was Rtn. P. Venteswara Rao who served as Secretary during 2009-2010. He ensured that the club continue to grow by having a net membership growth of 12%. This year also laid more stress on community service by organizing eye camps besides conduction blood donation camps in schools and Colleges . As a part of its commitment towards new generations the club organized various events to the children under privileged during September which has been designated as “ New Generations Month” which was appreciated by all the club aslo provide relief to the flood victims. The club always believes in providing leaders for the future and as part of this it organised DTTS. PETS&SETS for two days and everybody appreciated the manner in which the necessary infrastructure was provided. Our club has a special place in the district for recognizing the importance of The Rotary Foundation. ‘It contributed near $7,000 US dollars toward Polio Challenge Fund. It motivated Interact Club of Ashram Public School Sponsored to raise Rs. 2,05,000/- and also motivated other schools to contribute nearly Rs. 1,15,000/-. Total: Rs. 3,20,000/- toward eradication of Polio. Our club also hosted the selection committee meeting of GSE team this year. The Club places on record its appreciation to the trustees of the Rotary Foundation who conferred Distinguished Service Award on PDG. Tikku during the year.

The Rotary year 2011-2012 is very special to all Indian Rotarians as the International organisation lead by R.I. President Kalya Banergee asked everyone to Reach within to Embrace Humanity. Rtn. B.N.S.S. Ravi took the mantle of leadership with Rtn. S.K. Ahamed as secretary. The main concentration of the club was on its prestigious project of developing burial ground besides supporting Rotary Foundation. Our members contributed generously to the project by giving Rs,15,00,000/- The main achievement by the club was in creating an Endownment in memory of late PP.D.Sesha Appa Rao with a contribution of more to US$26,000/- and further contribution of US$18,000/- by Dr. S. Chandra Sekhar of Sri Kiran Eye Institute. The club also contributed US$ 3200, to Annual fund. School children contributed Rs. 22,000/- to Polio Fund. It is but nature that the district recongnised the efforts or our president and team by awarding recognitions at the awards night with number of awards. 

The President of Rotary year 2012-13, was Rtn. Sk. Ahmed Mohiddin and the Secretary Rtn. John Ricky Gootam. The club did an awareness program on Traffic rules in Kakinada. The Adarash Engineering Rotract Club was started in Chebrolu. We collected 100 units of Blood through our blood camps. A well thought of “Garden party” (Rotary Family get-together) was organized. One of the members Rtn. Ram Babu, helped release of 100 Indians who were detained in U.A.E due to immigration problems. We did a multi-district seminar on “Peace”. The Prestigious Rotary Burial ground Project “Layasthanam” was dedicated to the public. Our district collector inaugurated a rally for Polio. Rtn Sk. Ahlmed Mohiddin became a Major donor from our club. President Rtn. Sk. Ahmed got the best President Award for the year in our District. The club membership increased by 20% this year.

The year 2013-14, was filled with activities and service as Rtn. John Ricky Gootam as the President of the club and Rtn. V. Bhagavan as Secretary. We hosted district and regional meets, events like Polio seminar, Vocational service seminar, Membership development and district literacy seminar on T-E-A-C-H. We added a lady Rotarian this year. We planted 1000 teak and Sandal wood plants in and around Kakinada. We got Rs. 17,50,000 Global grant for Kiram Eya Hospital to do 2000 IOL operations and to train 550 nurses for the hospital. The club did 24 eye and medical camps this year.

We dug 4 bore wells in and around Kakinada and gave 400 steel water buckets to Various areas in Kakinada through the help of Rotary Club of Modbury, Australia ( They helped us with $4,100 for this project).

We donated 6 desk-top computers to Vimuthki School in fisherman area near the beach through the collaboration of Rotary Club of Modbury, Australia. 

We donated Rs. 45,000/- for a projector and accessories to APSP 3rd Battalion High School in Kakinada.

With the help of district grant we completed a water tank at a cost or Rupees One Lakh and Fifty Thousand at Mother Theresa Leper Colony in Peddapuram. We also got a district grant of $1000 to facelift our Vocational center at Yetimoga.

With the help of Rotary Club kin Australia we got $4,100 grant to dig 4 mater wells and gave 450 steel pots in the rural area of Kakinada. There were 14 who became Paul Harry Fellows (PHF) this year. The year was filled with activity and we got the “Champion Club” and “ Champion President” awards.

After and engaging Rotary Year in the path of service Rtn. G. Kasi Visweswara Rao took the mantle of service to Light up Rotary in the year 2014-15. President Rtn. Kasi with his long association as Rotaractor as steered the club ably assisted by Secretary Rtn. Jagan who was also a past Rotaractor to new heights. The year started with ‘Annadanam’ on a large scale to show case the Rotary Activities to the public thus enhancing the Public image. The club conducted Six Eye camps and screened 6,500 patients and conducted 40 cataract operations with co-operation of Sri Kiran Institute of Ophthalmology. Two medical amps were also organized and examined 2,000 patients. The focus during the year was on Happy schools Project which was a part of literacy Programme. The club presented a projector worth Rs. 50,000/- to Gandhi nagar Municipal High School besides providing 45 Schools benches to Netaji Muncipal School after spending a sum of Rs. 3,80,000/- president Rtn. Kasi Visweswara Rao donated a sum of Rs. 2,00,000/- . The contributions made through the efforts of club towards endowment funds to The Rotary Foundation started yielding results the club received substantial funds from the Rotary Foundation. It is heartening to note that Rtn. Kasi Visweswara Rao has maintained the tradition of providing good leadership to the club and thus kept the name of the club as one of the premier clubs in the district. It is wonder that he got due recognition to the club by bagging number of awards for translating the theme of the year “LIGHT UP ROTARY” Thus another year of service ended with complete satisfaction.

The mantle of leadership of the club was taken by Rtn. T.V. Ramanarao for the year 2015-2016. The year was fully devoted to Service activities to the community from Literacy to Health care. The year commenced with Annadanam at Ashrama Sravana on 01st July, 2015. Six Eye camps were conducted for the School children and 500 adults. Six dental camps were conducted at various schools and nearly 1000 persons were benefited. On te occasion of the birth day celebration of our founder Paul. P. Harris fruits were distributed to the patients of OB & G Ward. As a part of Polio never program the club helped local govt. authorities on Nid. The club has provided pollution masks and glucose packets to police constables of II town police station. The Club continue to participate in Rotary Foundation Programs and received a Global Grant of Rs. 22,42,152/- and already disbursed an amount of Rs. 10,00,000/- to Sri Kiran Institute of Ophthalmology for providing Eye sight to poor and needy with district Grant of Rs. 1,72,515/- received from District Governor 50 school benches were provided to Municipal Boys High school, Paradesammapeta, Kakinada. The Grant received in last year amounting to Rs. 3,55,000/- to provide sanitation in Girls high school was successfully utilized. Likewise the District grand of Rs. 60,000/- relating to last year was successfully utilized by providing 20 school benches in Municipal Boys High School Paradesammapeta, Kakinada during the year 2015-16. Thus the year passed off with full of service activities by being a Gift to the World.

The activities are below.

The Rotary year started with the installation function. 100 blankets to Parivartana Children on the occasion of Ramadan. Note books were distributed to Parivartana Children. All the inmates of Parivartana were given lunch on the occasion of Ramadan. All the above programmes were sponsored by Rtn.P.P.Ahmed. Note Boos were distributed to the Children of Satyavani School. Dinner plates and glasses were gine to the Children of Satyavani School. School bags were distributed to the Municipal School Children in Ramaraopet by Rtn.P.Srinivas Baba.

A Girl child was given Rs.7000/- for college Fees. Pithapuram Abhydaya, G.Mamidada, Pandalapaka Clubs were started. Interact clubs of Geetam School and Little Woods School was started. RCC Donation camp was organized on Engineers day by KIET college. Vision Centers started by Pavan Kalyan. Hearing aids were distributed under the sound of music project. New generations month was celebration by conducting various competitions. Polio day was celebrated by Flash molo and car rally to create awareness.

Rotary Club Kakinada celebrated 75yrs Platinum year (2017-18) with its President Rtn. Murthy Chodavarapu. He has handled it diligently to spread this proud moment to entire district.

As part of platinum year celebrations every senior member in the district were recognised & felicitated including GSE team members & past Rotaract DRRs. Honoured esteemed persons who contributed to the community through their professions for decades with Vocational Excellence Awards.

Major Service actives like Blood donation camp was organised and were successfully able to collect 143 blood units. Distribution of notebooks, food provisions were regularly distributed to teh needy. To protect environment Echo friendly clay Ganesh idols were distributed to the masses.

Cycle Raly with a theme “SAVE THE EARTH” was organised from Kakinada to Visakhapatnam.

“Ethics and Moral Values” which is a must for the next generation. The team took initiative and distributed information CD’s to the children in various schools to create awareness.

The major education & public image activity organised by platinum president is “IMPACT TRAINING PROGRAM” with 4000+ students where in many celebrities, motivational speakers & IAS participated and shared their experiences with youngsters. This program Youtube video got 50,000+ views.

Flash mob was organised by interact club students and collected Rs.3,00,000/- for Polio fund.

Rotary matching grant of 10,000 USD collected by Club members for Srikiran Institute of Ophthalmology.

Platinum secretary Ramesh Namana received Best Secretary at Awards night.

Platinum President Rtn. Murthy Chodavarapu had set a mark with the outstanding events which took Rotary public image to the new heights during his tenure.

Grants:

District grant of Rs.1,00,000/- towards development of community park. Global Grant No: 17570057 worth 101,022 dollars for 1350 eye surgeries and 2 vision centers. District grant for 10 school benches. All the members took active participation in the District Conference. Eye camps were conducted by Rotary Club Kakinadain association with Sri Kiran Institute of Ophthalmology as a part of the Global Grant Project every month about 350 free eye surgeries were conducted.

Medical camps were conducted for various associations and primary and preventive diseases were taken care of Various community service activities were taken up in the occasion of Governor visit like planting 100 trees, distributing note books, feeding the blind children, giving clothes to the old age home inmates. Eyes month rice bags were given to the inmates of the Assam Sravani Old age home.

The Club continued to run its permanent projects providing help to the old Age home “Ashram Sravana” every month.

Besides the projects referred to above taken up by the club, the club has also extended host of other SERVICES every year. The club has been constantly giving away educational scholarships to deserving and meritorious students. Financial help is being extended for medical and meritorious students. Financial help is being extended for medical aid or destitute people whenever approached. Year after year the club is making contributions to The Rotary Foundation either through its members or non Rotarians.

The Club is having maximum number of PHF recognitions besides tow major Donors of 2nd and 3rd level. The club has been regularly contributes 100 Kgs. of Rice Bag to local Old Age home ‘Ashram Sravani’ every month without interruption for the last 18 years. The club also provide meals to 13 poor people every month on 01st Tuesday. The spouses of the Rotarians provide meal to five people every month at Geetha Mandiram to Commemorate the District Conference ‘GOLDDISCON’. These are all the ongoing projects of the club.

If any particular project or achievement is omitted during the years of office of any President it is purely inadvertent and not intentional which is regretted.

This chronicling of the performance of our club through the year with particular reference to the President does not mean for a moment that the achievements are his alone. It goes without saying that every achievement is the result of the collective action of all Rotarians whether in office or out of office inspired by the ideals of Rotary. SERVICE ABOVE SELF permeates all our thoughts, actions and deeds bringing added glory to our club in the years to come.
